How to transfer photos from your phone to a PC without a cable

Step by step

1. On your PC, open sendtomac.com. A QR code appears.
2. On your phone, open the camera and point it at the code. The same site opens, already connected to your PC.
3. Tap “Choose photos and videos” and pick the ones you want.
4. Tap “Send”. Your PC downloads a ZIP with all of them, ready to open.

Windows’ own options and their catches

Windows has its own tools for connecting a phone, but they all need some setting up before the first photo moves.

• Phone Link asks you to install an app on the phone, link it to your Microsoft account and grant several permissions.
• Quick Share works on Windows with Android, but you install it and set visibility on both devices.
• With a cable, you find one, pick the transfer mode and dig through folders for your photos.
