How to transfer photos from a Xiaomi phone to Mac without a cable

sendtomac moves photos from your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO to your Mac in seconds. Open the site on your Mac, scan the code with your phone and pick your photos. Nothing to install.

Open sendtomac

Step by step

  1. On your Mac, open sendtomac.com. A QR code appears.
  2. On your Xiaomi, open the camera and point it at the code. The same site opens, already connected to your Mac.
  3. Tap “Choose photos and videos” and pick the ones you want.
  4. Tap “Send”. Your Mac downloads a ZIP with all of them, ready to open.

Your Xiaomi and your Mac need to be on the same Wi-Fi.

Why it’s so fiddly with a Xiaomi

Xiaomi has its own file sharing, but it’s built for sending between phones and doesn’t reach a Mac. And a Mac won’t recognise the phone over a cable without a separate app.

With sendtomac there are no cables, apps or uploads. Photos go straight from the Xiaomi to the Mac.

If the camera won’t read the QR code

Depending on the model, the Xiaomi camera spots QR codes on its own or needs it switched on. Look for the QR scanning option in the camera settings, or use the Scanner app that comes with the phone. Any QR reader works.

Questions

Does it work with Redmi and POCO?

Yes. It works with any Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone, and with any Android in general.

Do the photos lose quality?

No. sendtomac doesn’t recompress them, they arrive exactly as your phone hands them over.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. They go straight from your phone to your computer over your own network. We never store or see them.

What if it won’t connect?

Some networks, like guest Wi-Fi or setups with extenders, stop devices from seeing each other. Turn on your phone’s hotspot and connect your computer to it.

How much does it cost?

Your first 20 files are free on each computer. After that it’s €9.95 as a one-time payment, no subscription.
